Autumn Newsletter 12th October

Mud on the trolleys and preferred lies means it’s definitely Autumn.

No Results to give you for the Ladies Competitions, but there have been 2 mixed, The Monty Marshall, The Open and Finals Weekend.  So a busy couple of golfing weeks.

Monty Marshall Thursday 7th October

This was played on Thursday 7th October.   There was a strong sign up from the Ladies, not mirrored by the Gents, so sadly a few ladies didn’t get to play.  Also sadly the Ladies lost 3 and a half to 4 and a half.  There were a lot of close matches with most finishing on the 18th hole.   There is always next year ladies!  Ken Evans, the Seniors’ President, holding the Trophy.

Ladies Open Tuesday 5th October

Congratulations to the team from Stoneham The scores were quite low, the weather was blustery, but the greens were fast.  We had 92 ladies play in total, (only 1 team didn’t make it because of petrol), from 29 Clubs.  The winning team were 2 ladies from Stoneham Golf Club near Southampton and 1 lady from Letchworth.  They got 80 points and won on countback from a team from Woburn.

Larman Shield Sunday 3rd October

Mixed 4BBB competition.

Congratulations to Paul & Gillian Hanson who won with 41 points. 2nd were Alex & Carolyn Butterworth with 40 points and 3rd were Barry & Sue Prince with 39 points.

Ladies Notices Thursday 30th Sept

Congratulations to Sheila and Kelli for winning the Isabel Gibbs bowl.

Our 9 hole winner was ‘Isabel’ Holland.

Ladies Notices Tuesday 21st Sept

Congratulations to Karen Ellam who won the Millennium Trophy.

Ladies Notices Thursday 16th Sept

What terrible weather on Tuesday and no results to give for the Autumn meeting.  As the course was open and enough ladies played, we cannot re run the Godfrey Trophy and no winner will be presented this year. However, the meal was lovely in the evening and I took this photo of Pam and Ann who very kindly helped with the Charity raffle.  We raised £250 for Youth Talk.  Thank you to all who supported the raffle and to everyone for coming back in the early evening for the Autumn meeting dinner.

Midsummer Mixed Sunday 12th September

“A small but select field competed for the Midsummer Mixed Trophy on Saturday 12th September – only a few months displaced from mid-summer! Eight mixed teams of four played a Texas Scramble and the winners and runners up were made up of two husband / wife teams with Ladies Captain Jane Howe leading the winning team

1st Jane Howe, Graham Howe, Carol Campbell, Steve Campbell 53 pts
2nd Gill Saperia, Steve Saperia, Pam Henson, David Henson 53 pts

The winners were decided by count back.”

Ladies Notices Wednesday 8th September

Well it was a stiflingly hot day for our Tuesday EG medal and Claire Hasseldine Trophy competition, with the sand on the greens adding to the general feeling that maybe we were away on holiday and not in the grey UK we have experienced for most of August. Congratulations to Diane Shepherd, the winner of the Claire Hasseldine Trophy.  The 9 hole winner was June Houlston.

Hertfordshire Autumn Meeting 6th Sept

Return to Golf Roadmap (March 29th)

Roll on March and GOLF…

Lady Captain’s Newsletter (February)

Dear Ladies, well another month has gone by without golf, but at least we have a date when we will hopefully be starting again and my March communications should be filled with more information about a return to golf from 29th March.  So, no more snowy pictures or extra water features – how about some Snowdrops.

New General Manager

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Delves as our new General Manager.
The Management Committee (Manco)

Lady Captain’s Newsletter (January)

I am afraid this newsletter is sadly low on golf content, but hopefully will include some great photos. I am slightly comforted by the fact that although golf is not permitted in lockdown, I think with flooding and snow, we would not have managed to play much anyway. So I thought I would describe January in pictures.

County Report (January)

Pearson cancelled for 20/21, list of Hertfordshire Ladies & Girls events planned for 2021 and some useful apps.

Heavy Rainfall (January)

Well, so much for dry January !!
